About Asbjørn

My name is Asbjørn Reissmann, I am 33 years old, and I am a candidate for the election 18 November 2025 for the city council and the next parliamentary election for the Social Democratic Party.

I am running for the municipal election because I love Copenhagen. I attended school in Østerbro, played football in Fælledparken, and now I live in Nørrebro. The city has provided an amazing framework for my childhood, youth, and adulthood, and I want to work to ensure that Copenhagen can offer the same to everyone.

My background is not a classic Social Democratic one. I am not the son of two workers, but of two academics, and I grew up in a home with bookshelves and help with my homework. In 2017, I graduated in law from the University of Copenhagen (KU) and have since worked as a lawyer at some of Denmark’s largest law firms. I am now Head of Legal in a medium-sized Danish company. Alongside my work, I also teach Constitutional Law at KU.

But I grew up with Social Democratic values, and with the belief that everyone should have the opportunity to realize their abilities and pursue their dreams. That opportunity must never depend on which family you happened to be born into. That is my goal: a Copenhagen for everyone, with equal opportunities for all.

This requires, first of all, a housing market with homes for those who ensure that everyone can send their children to daycare or school and go to work with peace of mind; secondly, a public primary school that gives all children a solid and robust basic education; and finally, thirdly, an leisure and cultural life where citizens of all ages can participate in a nurturing community.

That is what I will fight for. The Social Democrats in Copenhagen have done so for over 100 years, and that is what the party continues to work for today.

That is why I am a Social Democrat.
